The "new colleague" at the Rhine centre for Western riding – a T4512
A telehandler T4512 has been in use since the beginning of 2017 at "Steeldust", the Rhineland centre for Western riding in Kevelaer, Lower Rhine. The operating couple Sabine and Ralf Stahl happily call it the "new colleague".
Located on the edge of the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer, the riding facility that Sabine Stahl has been running since 2009 offers ideal conditions for keeping and training horses for western riding enthusiasts. In addition to the opportunity to use the Euregio bridleway network, the facility also offers two riding arenas and an outdoor riding ground. Several outdoor and indoor stables, pastures and sand paddocks are available to comfortably accommodate the currently 29 horses, which are managed by the Stahl family entirely on their own. Until recently, all the work was done with two tractors, from moving manure to screeding the riding arena. Already two years ago, Ralf Stahl had a Weidemann demonstrated for him. "As a Waldeck native, I of course knew of the Weidemann plant in Korbach, so I just visited our local Weidemann sales partner". He liked the machine and yet it took another two years until his own Weidemann, a T4512, was finally on the farm. "We adapted it exactly to our needs", says Ralf Stahl, who is responsible for the heavy work on his wife's farm. The cooperation with the Weidemann sales partner Pieper Landtechnik was very good, especially since the Weidemann specialist Carsten Telahr himself is active in equestrian sports. For example, the dealer welded a ball coupling directly onto the tool mount for the Stahls. Now they can easily move the horse trailers.
Furthermore, the "new colleague" was delivered with a Euro tool attachment.. This allows the Stahls to continue to use the existing attachments from the tractors. The couple indulged in a new attachment: a ground leveller. "It is really great for removing the hoof beats to below the hall line". Sabine Stahl appreciates this, because she benefits the most from it as a rider and trainer. In addition, the "new colleague" is used when loading manure and hay bales. "It was always very exhausting to unload the hay truck in the narrow yard area with the tractor. Now this goes much faster, because the Weidemann is so manoeuvrable", says Ralf Stahl as he explains his regular tasks. He can also replace the hall lighting at the highest point conveniently and much more safely than before when used with a work platform.
"In the future we will give up one of the two tractors. We still have to keep the second one, because there is one thing the T4512 cannot do after all: pull the big attached water drum, including the bottom drag, through the very deep cutting* floor". All in all, Sabine and Ralf Stahl are more than satisfied with the “new colleague", which has already made itself indispensable in the first few weeks.
