Disposal of batteries

For customers in EU countries
Some of our devices contain one or more batteries and/or rechargeable batteries (hereinafter referred to together as “battery”). These batteries are subject to the European Directive 2006/66/EC on (old) batteries and (old) rechargeable batteries, as well as the corresponding national laws. The battery directive provides the framework for an EU-wide applicable handling of batteries. The batteries are labeled with the adjacent symbol of a crossed out garbage bin. Below this symbol is also the label for the hazardous substance contained, namely “Pb” for lead, “Cd” for cadmium, and “Hg” for mercury. Batteries may not be disposed of in the normal household garbage. As the end-user, you must dispose of used batteries exclusively via the manufacturer and trade, or, where possible, at specially set-up collection points (legal returnables); the return is free of charge. Trade and manufacturer undertake to take back these batteries and to utilize them properly, or dispose of them as hazardous waste (legal returnables). You are more than welcome to return the batteries after use, which you purchased from us, free of charge. In the event that you do not return the batteries in person to one of our branches, please ensure that you place sufficient postage on the return mail. Please observe possible information regarding this in the purchase contract and/or in the general terms and conditions of your sales point. The proper disposal of batteries prevents the negative effects on humans and the environment, serves the targeted handling of hazardous substances, and enables the reuse of valuable raw materials.

For customers in other countries
Some of our devices contain one or more batteries and/or rechargeable batteries (hereinafter referred to together as “battery”). The proper disposal of batteries prevents the negative effects on humans and the environment, serves the targeted handling of hazardous substances, and enables the reuse of valuable raw materials. We therefore recommend that batteries are not disposed of via the normal household garbage, but that they are disposed of at a separate collection in an environmentally-friendly manner. Even national laws potentially require the separate disposal of batteries. Please ensure that the batteries are disposed of safely according to the applicable provisions of your country.

Disposal of electrical and electronic old devices

For customers in EU countries
Some of of devices are subject to the European Directive 2002/96/EC about electrical and electronic old devices (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment - WEEE), as well as the corresponding national laws. The WEEE directive provides the framework for an EU-wide applicable handling of electrical equipment. These devices are labeled with the adjacent symbol of a crossed out garbage bin. This means that they cannot be disposed of in the normal household waste, however they need to be disposed of at a separate collection point in an environmentally-friendly manner. This equipment is intended exclusively for commercial use as professional electrical tools (so-called B2B devices pursuant to WEEE directive). Contrary to the devices primarily used in private households (so-called B2C devices), this equipment can therefore sometime not be returned to the collection points of public disposal providers (e.g. Communal recycling centers) in some EU countries, e.g. Germany. If in doubt, please contact your sales center about the mandatory disposal for B2B-electrical equipment in your country and ensure that you are disposing according to the respectively applicable, legal provisions. Please observe possible information regarding this in the purchase contract and/or in the general terms and conditions of your sales point. The proper disposal of this equipment prevents the negative effects on humans and the environment, serves the targeted handling of hazardous substances, and enables the reuse of valuable raw materials.
