Icy application for two “Weidemann” in the high north.
In Trøgstad, a one-hour drive from Oslo, is the company DesignIce Norway AS.
It was founded in 2004 and currently employees three full-time employees and five seasonal workers. Their focus is on impressive and elaborate, manufactured ice sculptures, which are used at events, in film productions, hotels and at tourist holiday destinations, among others. However, even the classic ice cubes for drinks are plentiful here.
High-quality processing of “Weidemann”.
To process a tonne of ice, it takes employees between 15 and 20 hours. The ice for this is taken from a close-by lake. The ice extraction normally takes place in the last two weeks of February. The ice is then stored in a huge refrigerator in a 400 m² barn. The large blocks of ice are moved and transported with the help of two Weidemann machines, a 1250 and a 1770. The high-quality processing by the machine and the very good level of stability provided by the Hoftrac were a crucial factor in the purchase decision. “A friend who is a farmer already had an older Weidemann and he was happy all-round. I tested other manufacturers’ machines and finally decided upon the two Hoftracs from Weidemann”, says satisfied Thomas Orderud, CEO of DesignIce.
Multi-functional Hoftrac.
The machines are primarily used as aids in the extraction of the ice from the lake, for transportation of the ice blocks, for snow blowing and for servicing the roads and areas on the ice farm. As the “Weidemann” are easy to drive, every employee dries the machines and they are in use several times a week.
