Power Drive
Innovative powerful transmission.
The innovation traction drive Power Drive is a variable hydrostatic transmission (370) or hydrostatic adjusting motor (255), which achieves higher thrust forces and driving speeds than previously developed solutions, and this is while maintaining all the benefits of previous traction drives in relation to compactness, energy efficiency, and operator comfort. This specialist Weidemann traction drive is installed into machines of the 90 series, and in the large telehandlers.
Technical background:
PowerDrive 370: A variable, hydrostatic, high-performance transmission has been realized with the use of a bent-axis engine with a 45° wide-angle adjustment angle, as well as variable absorption volumes of about 370 cm³ (90s series). The Power Drive is also characterized by its very compact design. This has been achieved with the combination of the hydraulic motor and transmission in an extremely compact housing unit, which enable the transmission of drive performance up to 130 kW. The implementation of this type of high driving performances with a classic hydrostatic drive (1-engine design) is unique and has not been achieved with our PowerDrive transmission.
PowerDrive 255: A variable, hydrostatic, high-performance adjusting engine has been realized with the use of a bent-axis engine with a 36° wide-angle adjustment angle, as well as variable absorption volumes of about 255 cm³ (telehandler sector). The Power Drive is also characterized by its very compact design. This is achieved with an enlarged conversion area in the adjustment unit, which enables the transmission of drive-performance up to 110 kW.
Another great advantage is the energy efficiency of the 1-motor system. Due to the matter that it is not necessary to gear shift a gear stage or a second hydromotor, it is possible to do away with the couplings and other shift elements. With this, there is no loss in towing force on open couplings, or free-rotating hydromotors. Alongside the efficiency benefits, this also provides positive effects in relation to sturdiness, service and costs of the overall traction drive.
