Power Drive
Innovative powerful transmission.
The innovative drive Power Drive is a variable hydrostatic transmission (370) or hydrostatic displacement motor (255), which achieve higher thrust power and driving speeds than previously developed solutions, and while maintaining all the benefits of previous drives in relation to compactness, energy efficiency and operator comfort. This special Weidemann drive is installed in machines of the 90s series and in the large telehandlers.
Technical background:
PowerDrive 370: A variable hydrostatic high-performance transmission was realized with the use of a bent-axis motor with a 45° wide-angle adjustable range, as well as variable flow capacity of around 370 cm³ (90s series). The Power Drive is also characterized by its very compact design. This has been achieved with the combination of the hydraulic motor and transmission in an extremely compact housing unit, which enable the transmission of drive performance up to 130 kW. Implementation of this type of high drive performance with a classic hydrostatic drive (1-motor construction) is unique and has only be achieved with our transmission PowerDrive, to date.
PowerDrive 255: A variable hydrostatic high-performance transmission was realized with the use of a bent-axis motor with a 36° wide-angle adjustable range, as well as variable flow capacity of around 255 cm³ (telehandler area). This Power Drive is also characterized by its very compact design. This is achieved with an enlarged conversion area in the adjustment unit, which enables the transmission of drive-performance up to 110 kW.
Another great advantage is the energy efficiency of the 1-motor system. Due to the matter that no shift operation of a gear stage or a second hydromotor is required, you can completely do away with couplings and other switching elements. Thus no towing force loses arise on open couplings or freely rotating hydromotors. Alongside the benefits to efficiency, this also provides positive effects in relation to robustness, servicing, and costs of the whole drive.
