Electrically into the future!
In addition to an older 1025 DP, the Barlo-Bocholt Riding Club has also owned an electric 1160 eHoftrac since 2017.
The roots of the Barlo-Bocholt Riding and Driving Club go back a long way. As early as 1896, the first documented equestrian club was registered in Bocholt under the name "Pferdezuchtverein des westlichen Münsterlandes Bocholt e. V.". Members in the founding years included officers and gentlemen riders as well as financially strong Bocholt "Poalbürger". At that time, lower social classes were not entitled to join the association. This only changed in the course of the 1920s, but the elitist basic idea remained until the 1950s. Therefore, a large number of riders from Barlo and the surrounding area decided to found their own club. The plan was put into practice and entered in the register of associations under the name "Zucht-, Reit- und Fahrverein Barlo-Bocholt u. Umgebung e. V." in 1954. Due to the targeted and better training and tournament opportunities, many riders from Bocholt also joined in the coming years, so that in 1968 the old Bocholt club was dissolved and the riders in Bocholt and the surrounding area joined the new Reit- und Fahrverein Barlo-Bocholt e. V. (Barlo-Bocholt Riding and Driving Club).
Over the last 60 years, the club has grown steadily and now has over 600 members and 200 active riders in 2018. This makes it the largest riding club in the area. The grounds and the facilities are completely owned by the association. They are maintained and managed by 9 employees and many volunteers. The grounds cover approx. 7 hectares, 3 indoor riding arenas, 5 outdoor riding arenas and 1 stable building with 44 boxes and a horse walker.
There is a lot of heavy work to be done on such a large farm and grounds. For many years, the association has been in possession of a Weidemann 1025 DP, which reliably performs a wide variety of tasks at the horse farm. Among other things, it helps with mucking out the stalls, transporting all goods and materials or clearing the riding arena. In 2017, the association decided to invest further in the future and purchased an electric 1160 eHoftrac from Weidemann. The electric loader works quietly and emission-free, which is especially beneficial for the horses and people in the immediate working environment. The purchase was made possible by Carsten Telahr, the association's 1st chairman. His main job is as a salesman at the agricultural machinery dealer Heinz Pieper Landtechnik in Rees Millingen, which has been a Weidemann dealer for many years.
