The first carnival parade in Braunschweig took place in 1979 and has not lost any of its tradition since then.

On the contrary: the Braunschweig carnival parade is the fourth largest parade in the whole of Germany and even the largest in northern Germany. Within a radius of 200 km, 40 different marching bands alone take part. A total of 6,000 people take part in the carnival procession and celebrate the fifth season with more than 300,000 visitors. As every year, there is a new carnival motto for the 2018/2019 season: Laugh, dance, everywhere - that's how Braunschweig celebrates carnival.

Braunschweig Carnival arouses great interest.

Every year about 120 floats start in the four-hour parade, which runs 5.5 km through the city centre. Of these, 90 floats are stored in the Hussar barracks in Braunschweig. The other 30 floats will be moved out of storage due to lack of space. However, a new hall is planned in which all the carriages can then be stored together. This also has the advantage that the starting point of the procession can be from one location. The carnival association has its own studio where three artists can give free rein to their creativity. Of course, they take into account the ideas of the companies that commission the floats every year. The motifs are varied and often refer to current events in politics and society. It's all about the message and a smart design! Depending on how big a float is, the design can take up to eight weeks.

Weidemann Radlader 2070LP im Einsatz

A 2070LP in carnival fever.

"We decided on a 2070LP wheel loader because the machine is compact, manoeuvrable and above all multifunctional. Many jobs are done in seconds," says Dieter Heitmann, chairman of the Förderverein Karneval Braunschweig e. V. In addition, the easy operation is convincing, which is no problem even for non-professionals. During the preparations, the 2070LP has to lift a total of 30 t of litter camels into the floats. Besides transporting and storing figures and materials, its tasks also include cleaning the site. To be able to do the work, the carnival club also has a light material shovel and a sweeping broom in addition to a pallet fork. "We are absolutely satisfied with the 2070LP and are glad that we have now found a suitable helper for our carnival association," says Konrad Körner, who is one of the three artists.
