A wheel loader that pulls!
With his four-man team, the building yard manager Henry Kühn not only takes care of the city of Gehren, but also the adjacent districts of Jesuborn and Möhrenbach.
“For our work, we need a universally applicable machine that at the same time can be used as a tractor,” explains Henry Kühn. With the official tender for a new machine in 2013, the wheel loader 3070 CX80 from Weidemann was able to score points with its versatility. Together with the trailer specifically developed for the machine, the wheel loader supports the building yard employees in their daily work. It has a height-adjustable trailer coupling and special trailer ramps. These allow, for example, the simple transport of a lawn tractor or green waste. The Weidemann easily pulls the trailer, which can be loaded with up to 3.5 tonnes. The maintenance of local parks, such as the castle grounds, is easy with the wheel loader as a tractor. The wheel loader also takes care of some manual work steps at the point of acceptance for branches, roots and green waste.
“Instead of first chopping up the branches, now we simply lift them up with the shear grab,” says Joachim Müller, one of the employees of the city of Gehren. Among the many application areas of the machine are road construction, cemetery maintenance and winter service. “The snowplough is just too big in some places, which is where our wheel loader comes into play,” explains Henry Kühn. “From loading salt to shovelling sidewalks, it has everything.” In the winter, the machine with a trailer is used to relieve waste disposal and to collect waste from municipal waste. Henry Kühn especially likes driving the Weidemann if he gets to decorate the 46 poles in Gehren in the winter for the Christmas season. “You need a wheel loader,” says the building yard manager, “we cannot live without it. To top it off, we would love a telescopic arm on the next model.” That should be feasible...
