Not from cardboard – gaining new experience with atelehandler.

Since December 2017, Abfallwirtschaft Potsdam-Mittelmark GmbH (APM) has been the proud owner of a telehandler T6027.

APM is responsible for all waste disposal in the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark and provides services, such as the collection of non-recyclable waste, bulky waste, waste paper and even electrical appliances. Up to 100 tons of paper can be produced each day, which is further processed and pressed at the Niemegk site. APM currently has around 170 employees, who make use of 50 waste collection vehicles for the district’s residents. “For the waste paper work alone, the T6027 is a huge help to us,” said Thomas Fröhlich. He is one of the three employees responsible for the telehandler and, since last year, has been using the Weidemann for the daily waste collection. He is very impressed with the machine’s manoeuvrability, compact dimensions and enormous pushing power. Weidemann supports employees in particular when it comes to processing waste paper and bulky waste. The T6027 uses the shear grab to grab the loose waste paper and place it into the appropriate containers. He also “feeds” the paper crusher with waste paper, which compresses the paper into bales weighing as much as 800 kg

APM got to know about the Weidemann brand through the YouTube video portal and then found out about the T6027. It was extremely helpful that the Weidemann dealer REMA Fahrzeug- und Landtechnik GmbH was nearby and was soon able to provide a suitable machine. Head of Materials Flow Management/Systems, Tino Jaster, added: “We hadn’t had any prior experience of a telehandler. But we are very satisfied with our new machine and are convinced of its quality.” The T6027 is additionally equipped with a diesel particulate filter, as the machine is mainly used in paper halls. Employees at APM should begin by gaining some experience with the machine and then consider which additional attachments would be needed for jobs in the recycling depot. “Weidemann offers customers a huge selection in this respect,” said Tino Jaster.

A different form of advertising.

The colourful interchangeable containers at APM's premises are striking. The idea for the various designs of container came from a very different background: Containers that were parked overnight at container sites off the company’s premises were often found covered in graffiti the next day. So, in 2009, the company came up with the idea of asking professional graffiti artists to spray its containers. The images are all very different from each other and, with a sense of humour, aim to show residents the kinds of challenges that employees face every day.
