Weidemann 1160 eHoftrac in use

The Osnabrück Zoo excites with a variety of animals in idyllic forest scenery. In its 80th year of existence, the Osnabrück Zoo has developed from a local zoo to a major zoo. But one thing has fortunately not changed - the beautiful forest scenery of the Schölerberg.

Visitors can find their own way through the hilly terrain and discover the approximately 3,600 animals in the zoo. When you enter the Osnabrück Zoo, adventurous themed worlds and playgrounds in the middle of a cosy forest atmosphere are awaiting you to be explored. Flamingos, spider monkeys and prairie dogs make up the reception committee. The path meanders up the Schölerberg: directly to Africa, South America and the far north. Here visitors can now discover about 3,600 animals from almost 300 species: Whether leafcutter ants, red river hogs, tigers, penguins or elephants - every animal lover will find their favourite animal here or discover something new. If you are planning a visit to the zoo, you should plan plenty of time, because the path through the 23.5-hectare zoo is long and literally leads through many continents. One focus of the forest zoo is Africa: In "Samburu", giraffes roam the steppe with ostriches, waterbucks, impalas and big kudu. You can go on a longer safari in "Takamanda". Visitors enter the over 5-hectare African themed world via a bridge and discover over 100 animals from around 20 different species in near-natural habitats along a circular path. In the "Valley of the Grey Giants", visitors can observe impressive pachyderms: Rhinos wallow in the mud and the Asian elephants treat themselves to a bath. Since June 2017, employees in the Elephant House have been receiving electrical support from the Weidemann 1160 eHoftrac.

Weidemann 1160 eHoftrac im Einsatz

The advantages of the eHoftrac for a zoo are obvious: Emission-free work in the animal houses or outdoor enclosures is a tremendous improvement to the living conditions of the valuable animal populations. No exhaust fumes, no engine noise – the zoo staff can work around the animals without disturbing them. The working conditions for the employees of course also improve a great deal with this machine.

With the quiet and emission-free 1160 eHoftrac, you can also easily work during opening hours without disturbing the visitors. It is an advantage that does not exist with a conventional diesel engine. With its 1.3 tonne tipping load, the machine can also easily transport and lift heavy goods. Loading and stacking work is possible up to a total working height of 3.44 m - which in turn allows for a wide range of applications. The 1160 eHoftrac is equipped with a powerful AGM mat battery with on-board battery charger. Intermediate charges are possible at any time. The AGM technology (absorbent glass mat) describes the design of a sealed, maintenance-free lead battery with internal gas recombination.
