Like father, like son: A strong attachment to livestock.

Ángel De Miguel Angulos’s attachment and love for livestock farming has almost always been a part of his life. But it was his father who established the “SAT el Soto de Navalafuente” farm (Madrid).

After completing his studies successfully, Ángel joined the operation to develop it further at his father’s side. The farm took a big step forward about three years back: The construction of a new 11,000 m² shed for the cows including a warehouse for raw materials. Father and son achieved another milestone with this new building. The farm now employs 13 people in all. They also have about 900 cows, 760 of which are milked daily. As a result, the farm generates more than 28,000 liters of milk per day.

The storm of change.

In January 2021, storm “Filomena” left abundant snow in several inland provinces, including Madrid. A machine failed on the farm at this time. Therefore, the farm owners had to look for an alternative at short notice. They got the opportunity to try out the new tele wheel loader 9580T by Weidemann. Father and son had known about Weidemann brand and products for some time. After a month of testing, they decided to buy the machine.

Good all-round visibility played an important role in the purchase decision, in addition to handling and ergonomics. Father and son are very satisfied with their choice after having worked intensively with the new machine for a month. “The good visibility is what struck me the most. I also really like the hydrostatic transmission”, says Àngel De Miguel Angulo. For the future, the two are planning to continue expanding and steadily developing the operation.

There us approximately 8,500 m² of open resting area for the cows on the farm. The littering consists of cement and soil; it is loosened with harrow three times a day when the animals go for milking. In winter, the littering is mixed with sawdust. The littering has to be completely replaced twice a year. The powerful tele wheel loader is just the thing for the solidified material.
