Pass through low passages with the 1390 and the fold-down overhead guard Easy Protection System (eps).

The overhead guard of the 1390 Hoftrac can be folded down in just a few steps, so that the machine can pass through low passages. This was one of the main criteria for Bernd Hempelmann while buying a new machine. At his dairy operation in Strothe in North Hesse, he can only muck out the calf pens in folded down state. The Hempelmann family has been driving a Weidemann 1280 for years, which also already had a fold-down overhead guard.

When the replacement of the machine was due, it made sense to again choose such a roof as equipment. However, with the increased livestock, the new Hoftrac needed to be larger and therefore more powerful. Therefore, the choice was the new 1390, which is equipped with the 54.5 hp Yanmar engine and therefore also with the latest exhaust technology and more hydraulic power.

“You can clearly notice the difference. Plus, we can complete our various tasks on the farm very well with it”, says Bernd Hempelmann about his new acquisition. The following receptacles are used: a fork and grab for cleaning out, a feed blade for pushing the silage, a bale grab for moving and stacking big bales, a rubber blade for pulling off the columns and a pallet fork for the many transport jobs that arise. In addition, the 1390 is used to maneuver the driving trolley on the farm so that the cows can be easily moved to other groups depending on the lactation phase and the offspring depending on their age.

The production facilities of the Hempelmann dairy operation have been systematically expanded and extended in recent years: In 2007, for example, the existing box-milking pen was enlarged and a new slurry tank was built. From 2014 onwards, construction of a new calf barn, a large mobile silo facility and further expansion of the existing barn were added. “Being on top of things always, building on what we have and expanding is very important for the future of our agricultural operations”, says Bernd Hempelmann, describing the development. His farm currently has 135 dairy cows and about 90 young animals.
