Weidemann Hoftrac 1160 in use

The 1160 “has jobs” on the dairy farm Hof Steinmann on a daily basis.

In spring 2015 the Weidemann Hoftrac 1160 arrived at the farm of Christoph and Friedrich Steinmann in the Bottrop district Kirchhellen. Since that time, the machine manages the daily requirements of approx. 180 cows including their offspring. Several times a day the feed is pushed with it and round and square bales are transported. Long distances have to be covered on the extensive farmstead; hence, the 1160 has been deliberately equipped with a 20 km/h option and a large 23.4 kW / 32 HP engine. It is also possible to load straw on the arable land during harvest season. In all 130 ha grassland, field and maize (biogas) are part of the farm.

The weight of the machine also played a decisive role in the purchase, since the Steinmanns had to drive on the slatted floors in the stables for sprinkling. For this purpose, the 1160 was combined with a powerful cubical bedder and was provided with an oil flow rate of 37 l/min for the work hydraulics. The bedding material consists of chopped straw in combination with fermentation substrate, due to which considerable weight comes together and needs to be spread. This operation is carried out once or twice in a week. The Weidemann specialist Carsten Telahr from Heinz Pieper Landtechnik in Rees-Millingen has configured the Hoftrac® along with Christoph Steinmann: “We have equipped the machine in such a way that the operational tasks can be depicted well. In this way, we can cater individually to our customers.”

Versatility is the trump card.

After emptying the silo for feed and biogas plant feeding, the Hoftrac® shunts off the base plates “quickly and evenly” along with a pushing broom. Furthermore, many transport operations are carried out with the pallet fork. A bucket is also frequently used in various material movements. In Summer 2018, a flail mulcher was also purchased for land maintenance. With its current operating hours of around 1600, the machine runs an average of 400 hours per year and is therefore well utilised. The 1160 and all attachments

The 1160 and all attachments are equipped with a Euro tool attachment, so that the tools can also run on one of the tractors and you can also work with them in parallel. In this way, the Steinmanns and their two employees are able to divide the daily work well. Everyone on the farm likes to drive and work with the 1160, since it is so manoeuvrable and easy to operate, the tool change can be done very quickly and entry and exit from the machine is easy with the many different activities.
