An apple a day keeps the doctor away.

An apple a day would be far too little for Belgian fruit growers Chris Groven and Danny Awouters.

Danny Awouters is already the third generation to grow apples. He and his family run a 25-hectare apple farm and are supported by a Weidemann 1880. It is already the third Weidemann machine to do duty on the farm.

"For me, a well-functioning air conditioning system, good visibility, the central lubrication system and especially the armrest are important attributes in a working machine. Weidemann meets all these requirements perfectly," says the owner of the family business. It is also important to him to have a fast and reliable after-sales service close at hand. "I've never had to worry about the machine being out of action for a long time. With my Weidemann sales partner TC Wintmolders, everything works out just fine!"

His colleague Chris Groven is also enthusiastic about the performance of his Weidemann during the fruit harvest. He grows apples, pears and cherries on around 25 hectares and has also opted for an 1880 from Weidemann. With it, he can easily transport three transport boxes, the so-called paloxes, with apples at once, which is a good 1,500 kg. He has a fork with six tines especially for this purpose, so that he can move the paloxes filled with fruit off-road very well and as smoothly as possible.

Moreover, he can easily drive through every passage on his farm with the loader. "The Weidemann replaces three tractors with front loaders for me," says the experienced fruit grower, "it is manoeuvrable, powerful and absolutely reliable". During harvest time, the machine often has to work ten to twelve hours a day. "Even in these absolute peak periods, I have never had any problems," says the Weidemann fan happily. Chirs Groven also attaches a lot of importance to the comfortable equipment of the machine, with ergonomically arranged controls and a comfortable armrest, with which one can work for a long time without tiring.
