A new Weidemann for the building yard of Korbach City

Compact design, low centre of gravity, tight turning radius and powerful performance – these features have characterised the Hoftrac series for years and still determine the success of the machines at Weidemann.

With the new 1380, the series received another model added to it in 2016, which impresses above all with its diversity of configurations. Plant manager Friedhelm Schmidt and his team at the Korbach building yard were also convinced by these features when he, together with his specialist dealer, Chr. Janson GmbH, set up the 1380 with view to the interests of the different operations in the city. The building yard drive Weidemann machines since 23 years and have not come to regret it: “Quality, reliability and flexibility—those are the requirements of our equipment. The first Weidemann is a 1995 build and was used in all areas of the building yard for over 20 years, and of course also for winter road maintenance. After over 11,000 operating hours it is now decommissioned. On the second Weidemann, which we are driving since over 11 years with now more than 8,000 operating hours, we have not had a single repair. We literally do everything with this machine—we cannot imagine life without it,” the Head of the municipal operations says with satisfaction. The range of tasks is wide because the building yard with its 60 or so employees execute many municipal tasks with a high degree of performance. Thus this includes the complete garden maintenance of areas, sports fields, herbaceous borders and cemetery care as well as cleaning sealed surfaces with rotary sweepers and comprehensive winter work.

As a symbol for the long-standing partnership between the Municipality of Korbach and Weidemann, a personal delivery of machines was conducted on the Weidemann factory premises on 19/04/2018. Thereby it was discovered that the Municipality of Korbach received their first machine in 2007, which had been built in the then newly inaugurated Weidemann Korbach production plant. But the machine now delivered is the Hoftrac, and to be precise, remarkably the 109,341st machine produced by Weidemann hitherto.

Klaus Friedrich, mayor of Korbach, emphasised the importance of the partnership and support of the domestic operations and the creation and preservation of jobs is in this region. With Weidemann GmbH, the Municipality of Korbach has settled for an expanding and further internationalising company in the area. The Commercial Director at Weidemann, Bernd Apfelbeck, is also pleased that the Municipality of Korbach will continue to count on the products by the company when it comes to their machines. He emphasised Weidemann’s decision to join the hitherto split location and the departments which are currently still located at the location Flechtdorf and to bring them to Korbach in the foreseeable future. For this reason, a new construction, which is currently in planning phase, will be built diagonally opposite the plant.
